About this exercise

The kettlebell floor fly is a lying chest exercise performed on the floor rather than a bench, which limits the range of motion at the bottom and protects the shoulder joint. It primarily targets the pectoral muscles with secondary involvement of the anterior deltoids.

How to Perform

  • Lie on your back on the floor with your knees bent and feet flat
  • Hold a kettlebell in each hand with arms extended above your chest, palms facing each other
  • Maintaining a slight bend in your elbows, lower both kettlebells outward and down toward the floor in a wide arc
  • Stop when your elbows touch or nearly touch the floor
  • Squeeze your chest and bring the kettlebells back together above your chest in the same arc
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
