About this exercise

The kettlebell double jerk is an advanced ballistic exercise in which two kettlebells are driven overhead using a dip-and-drive leg action followed by a second dip to catch them at lockout. It develops explosive full-body power, shoulder stability, and conditioning at high loads.

How to Perform

  • Clean two kettlebells to the rack position at shoulder height with elbows tucked
  • Stand tall with feet shoulder-width apart and core braced
  • Perform a shallow dip by bending your knees and hips
  • Explosively drive upward through your legs, using the momentum to initiate the press
  • Drop under the kettlebells by bending your knees again as your arms lock out overhead
  • Stand up to complete the lockout with arms fully extended and body stable
  • Lower the kettlebells back to the rack position under control and repeat
