About this exercise

The Kettlebell Atlas Swing is a full-body swinging movement that traces a large circular arc overhead, mimicking the posture of Atlas holding the world aloft. It builds core stability, hip power, and shoulder endurance simultaneously.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and hold the kettlebell with both hands in front of your hips
  • Hinge at the hips and swing the kettlebell back between your legs to build momentum
  • Drive through the hips explosively to propel the kettlebell upward in a wide arc overhead
  • Keep your core braced and your arms in control throughout the full arc
  • Guide the kettlebell overhead until your arms are fully extended above you
  • Reverse the arc under control, allowing the bell to swing back down between your legs into the next rep
  • Maintain a neutral spine and avoid hyperextending the lower back at the top
