About this exercise

An explosive plyometric exercise that combines a step-up with a jump, driving one leg up onto a box or step and then jumping off to switch legs. It builds lower-body power, coordination, and cardiovascular endurance simultaneously.

How to Perform

  • Stand facing a sturdy box or step, feet hip-width apart
  • Drive your right foot onto the box and explosively push through to jump up off the box
  • While in the air, switch legs so your left foot lands on the box and your right foot goes to the floor
  • Land softly on the box with a slight bend in the knee to absorb impact
  • Continue alternating legs in a rhythmic, controlled manner
  • Keep your core braced and your chest upright throughout
  • Land with your full foot on the box to maintain balance and reduce injury risk
