About this exercise

The jump split is a plyometric lower-body exercise in which you explosively jump from a narrow stance and land in a wide split position, then spring back. It trains explosive leg power, coordination, and cardiovascular conditioning while engaging the quadriceps, glutes, and calves.

How to Perform

  • Stand with your feet together and arms relaxed at your sides
  • Bend your knees slightly, then explosively jump upward and outward
  • Split your legs wide in the air so both feet land simultaneously in a wide stance
  • Land softly with knees slightly bent to absorb the impact
  • Immediately jump back up and bring your feet back together to the starting position
  • Continue at a controlled, rhythmic pace for the desired number of repetitions
