About this exercise

The Incline Svend Press is a chest isolation exercise performed on an incline bench, pressing two weight plates squeezed flat between your palms at an upward angle. The constant isometric squeeze of the plates against each other activates the pectoral adductors throughout the entire movement, making it an effective upper-chest exercise.

How to Perform

  • Set an adjustable bench to a 30–45-degree incline and select two light weight plates
  • Press the plates flat against each other between your palms with fingers pointed forward
  • Lie back on the incline bench holding the squeezed plates at chest height
  • Maintain maximum squeezing pressure between the plates throughout the entire set
  • Press the plates forward and upward until your arms are nearly fully extended
  • Pause briefly at the top, keeping the squeeze tight
  • Lower the plates back to chest level under control
  • Repeat for the desired number of reps
