About this exercise

The Incline Shoulder Tap is a bodyweight core stability exercise performed in an incline push-up position with hands elevated on a bench or step. Alternately lifting one hand to tap the opposite shoulder challenges anti-rotation stability and engages the core, shoulders, and arms.

How to Perform

  • Place both hands on an elevated surface such as a bench, with your body in a straight incline push-up position
  • Engage your core and keep your hips level throughout the movement
  • Shift your weight onto one hand and lift the other hand off the surface
  • Tap the lifted hand to the opposite shoulder, avoiding any rotation of your hips or torso
  • Return your hand to the surface and repeat on the other side, alternating with each rep
