EasyAbsCore

About this exercise

The Incline Elbow Plank is a beginner-friendly core stability exercise in which you rest your forearms on an elevated surface such as a bench while holding a plank position. Elevating the upper body reduces the proportion of body weight borne by the core, making it an ideal starting point for those building up to a standard floor plank.

How to Perform

  • Place your forearms on a bench or elevated surface with elbows directly beneath your shoulders
  • Step your feet back until your body forms a straight diagonal line from head to heels
  • Engage your abs and glutes to prevent your hips from sagging or piking upward
  • Keep your neck neutral, gaze directed toward the floor slightly in front of the bench
  • Hold the position while breathing steadily throughout the duration
  • To finish, lower your knees to the floor in a controlled manner
