About this exercise

The Hopping Pendulum is a lateral plyometric exercise where you hop side to side in a pendulum-like arc, developing lower body power, coordination, and cardiovascular fitness. The swinging momentum challenges hip stabilizers, glutes, and calves while keeping the heart rate elevated.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet together and knees slightly bent, arms at your sides
  • Push off both feet and hop to the right, landing softly on both feet
  • As you land, let your arms swing to the right like a pendulum for momentum
  • Immediately push off again and hop to the left in one smooth motion
  • Land softly through the balls of your feet and bend your knees to absorb impact
  • Use your arms to swing in the direction of each hop to build rhythm
  • Continue hopping side to side at a steady, controlled pace
  • Keep your core engaged and your torso upright throughout
