About this exercise

The hanging flutter kick is a core and hip flexor exercise performed while hanging from a pull-up bar. You alternate rapidly kicking your legs up and down in a controlled flutter motion, challenging abdominal strength and grip endurance simultaneously.

How to Perform

  • Grip a pull-up bar with both hands slightly wider than shoulder width, arms fully extended
  • Allow your body to hang freely with legs straight and together
  • Brace your core and tuck your pelvis slightly to protect your lower back
  • Begin rapidly alternating your legs up and down in a small, controlled flutter motion
  • Keep your legs as straight as possible throughout the movement
  • Maintain a tight core and avoid swinging your hips
  • Continue for the desired duration, then return feet to the starting position
