About this exercise

A hybrid bodyweight exercise combining the hip hinge of a good morning with a squat, targeting the hamstrings, glutes, and lower back through a full range of motion. The movement improves hip mobility and strengthens the posterior chain.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and hands clasped behind your head or extended forward
  • Hinge forward at the hips with a slight knee bend, keeping your back straight (good morning phase)
  • Continue lowering by bending your knees into a full squat (squat phase)
  • Drive through your heels to stand back up, reversing the movement
  • Return to the fully upright position and repeat
