About this exercise

The full planche is one of the most demanding calisthenics skills, requiring the entire body to be held horizontally above the ground supported only by straight arms. It builds extraordinary pressing strength in the shoulders and triceps while demanding total-body tension from head to toe.

How to Perform

  • Place your hands flat on the floor (or grip parallel bars or rings) with fingers pointing forward or slightly outward
  • Lean forward, shifting your center of gravity directly over your hands
  • Engage your shoulders, triceps, core, and glutes with maximum tension
  • Lift your feet off the ground while keeping both legs straight and together
  • Hold the horizontal body position with arms fully extended
  • Keep your gaze slightly forward and breathe steadily throughout the hold
  • Lower yourself in a controlled manner to end the hold

About the Full Planche

The Full Planche is a foundational movement that builds strength and muscle through controlled, progressive overload. Train it 1 to 2 times per week with 3 to 5 working sets per session, gradually adding weight or reps as form holds up.
