About this exercise

The front plank walkout is a dynamic core exercise that combines a hip hinge with a full plank position, challenging the abs, core stabilizers, and shoulders. Starting from standing, you walk your hands out to a plank and return, creating continuous tension through the midsection. It builds both strength and stability along the entire anterior chain.

How to Perform

  • Stand tall with feet hip-width apart and arms at your sides
  • Hinge at the hips and place both hands flat on the floor directly in front of your feet
  • Walk your hands forward one at a time until your body forms a straight plank, with wrists under shoulders and core braced
  • Hold the plank position for a brief moment, keeping hips level and spine neutral
  • Walk your hands back toward your feet one at a time
  • Squeeze your glutes and drive your hips up to return to the standing position
