About this exercise

The frog planche (also known as a frog stand or crow stand) is an entry-level planche progression where the knees rest on the backs of the upper arms while balancing on the hands. It builds wrist strength, body awareness, and the pressing strength needed for more advanced planche variations.

How to Perform

  • Squat down and place your hands flat on the floor, shoulder-width apart, fingers spread and pointing forward
  • Bend your elbows slightly and lean your torso forward
  • Place your knees on the backs of your upper arms just above the elbows
  • Shift your weight forward until your feet lift naturally off the ground
  • Balance on your hands with your knees resting on your triceps and upper arms
  • Hold the position with a steady downward gaze and controlled breathing
  • Slowly lower your feet back to the floor to exit

About the Frog Stand

The Frog Stand is a foundational movement that builds strength and muscle through controlled, progressive overload. Train it 1 to 2 times per week with 3 to 5 working sets per session, gradually adding weight or reps as form holds up.
