About this exercise

The Dumbbell Z Press is a seated overhead press performed on the floor with legs extended straight in front of you, forming a Z shape from the side. This position removes leg drive and demands greater core stability and shoulder strength compared to a standing press.

How to Perform

  • Sit on the floor with your legs extended straight in front of you
  • Hold a dumbbell in each hand at shoulder height with palms facing forward
  • Brace your core and keep your torso upright
  • Press both dumbbells overhead until your arms are fully extended
  • Lower the dumbbells back to shoulder level under control
  • Repeat for the desired number of reps
