About this exercise

The Dumbbell Press Squat is a compound movement that combines a squat with an overhead press, training the lower body and shoulders in a single fluid motion. It is highly effective for building functional strength and total-body conditioning.

How to Perform

  • Hold a dumbbell in each hand at shoulder height, palms facing inward
  • Stand with feet shoulder-width apart
  • Descend into a squat, keeping your chest up and knees tracking over your toes
  • Drive through your heels to stand back up
  • As you reach the top, press the dumbbells overhead until your arms are fully extended
  • Lower the dumbbells back to shoulder height as you begin the next squat
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
