The Dumbbell Overhead Squat is a technically demanding compound exercise that requires holding dumbbells locked out overhead while performing a full squat. It develops lower-body strength, shoulder stability, and core rigidity simultaneously.

How to Perform

  • Hold a dumbbell in each hand and press them fully overhead with arms locked out
  • Stand with feet slightly wider than shoulder-width, toes turned out slightly
  • Brace your core and keep your arms vertical throughout the movement
  • Slowly descend into a squat, maintaining the dumbbells directly over your mid-foot
  • Keep your chest up, back neutral, and knees tracking over your toes
  • Drive through your heels to return to the starting position
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
