About this exercise

The dumbbell curtsey lunge is a lower-body exercise that targets the quadriceps, glutes, and inner thighs by stepping one foot behind and across the opposite leg, mimicking a curtsey movement. Holding dumbbells at your sides adds resistance and challenges your balance and hip stability throughout the motion.

How to Perform

  • Stand upright holding a dumbbell in each hand at your sides, feet hip-width apart
  • Step your right foot behind and across to the left side of your body, bending both knees to lower your hips toward the floor
  • Keep your front knee aligned over your front foot and your torso upright
  • Lower until your back knee nearly touches the floor
  • Drive through your front heel to return to the starting position
  • Complete all reps on one side before switching legs
