About this exercise

A kneeling hip flexor and quadriceps stretch where you look upward toward the ceiling to deepen the thoracic extension and intensify the stretch along the front of the thigh and hip. Suitable as a warm-up or cool-down mobility drill.

How to Perform

  • Kneel on one knee with the other foot forward in a lunge position, both knees bent at roughly 90 degrees
  • Rest your hands lightly on your front thigh for balance
  • Gently push your hips forward to feel the stretch in the front of the rear thigh and hip
  • Slowly tilt your head back and look up at the ceiling, allowing your chest to open and your thoracic spine to extend
  • Hold the position and breathe deeply for the prescribed duration
  • Return your gaze to neutral, release the hip forward position, and switch legs
