About this exercise

A plyometric bodyweight exercise where you explosively rise onto your toes and clap your hands at the top of the movement, adding an upper-body coordination element to a standard calf raise. The explosive nature of the exercise also recruits fast-twitch muscle fibres in the calves.

How to Perform

  • Stand with your feet hip-width apart and arms hanging at your sides
  • Quickly rise up onto the balls of your feet as high as possible
  • At the peak of the movement, clap your hands together in front of or above your body
  • Lower your heels back to the floor in a controlled manner
  • Reset and repeat for the desired number of reps
  • Keep your core braced and your posture upright throughout
