About this exercise

The cable reverse crunch is a weighted core exercise performed lying on the floor with a cable attached to the ankles via ankle straps. The cable adds constant resistance through the full range of motion, intensifying lower ab activation compared to the bodyweight version.

How to Perform

  • Attach ankle straps to the low pulley cable and secure them to your ankles
  • Lie on your back facing the cable machine with your legs extended and arms flat on the floor for stability
  • Keeping your core braced, draw your knees toward your chest, curling your hips off the floor at the top
  • Pause briefly when your knees are near your chest
  • Slowly extend your legs back to the starting position, resisting the cable pull
  • Maintain control throughout — avoid letting the cable jerk your legs forward
