About this exercise

The cable rear drive is a triceps exercise performed by extending the arm backward against the resistance of a low cable. The movement mimics a standing kickback motion, isolating the triceps through full elbow extension behind the body.

How to Perform

  • Attach a handle to a low cable pulley and stand sideways or facing away from the machine
  • Grip the handle with one or both hands and lean your torso slightly forward
  • Start with the elbow bent and the upper arm held parallel to the floor
  • Extend the forearm straight back by straightening the elbow fully
  • Hold the extended position briefly and squeeze the triceps
  • Slowly return to the starting position by bending the elbow
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
