About this exercise

A weighted abdominal crunch performed on a decline bench with resistance from a high cable pulley. The decline angle increases the range of motion while the cable provides constant tension throughout the movement for superior abdominal development.

How to Perform

  • Position a decline bench in front of a high pulley cable machine and attach a rope handle
  • Set the appropriate weight on the cable stack
  • Secure your feet under the decline bench pads and hold the rope ends at your temples
  • Lie back on the decline bench, keeping the cable taut
  • Curl your torso upward by flexing your abs, pulling against the cable resistance
  • Crunch until your elbows are close to your knees at the top
  • Slowly lower your torso back to the starting position under control
