About this exercise

The Cable Bench Press is a chest exercise performed lying on a flat bench between two low cable stations, providing constant tension throughout the press. It targets the pectoral muscles while reducing shoulder strain compared to free weights.

How to Perform

  • Place a flat bench in the center of a cable crossover machine and set the pulleys to the lowest position
  • Attach a D-handle to each cable and lie flat on the bench
  • Hold the handles at chest level with your palms facing forward and elbows bent
  • Press both handles up and slightly inward until your arms are fully extended above your chest
  • Hold briefly at the top, feeling the chest muscles contract
  • Slowly lower the handles back to the starting position in a controlled manner
