About this exercise

A dynamic cardio and warm-up drill where you jog in place while driving your heels up to touch your glutes with each stride. It warms up the hamstrings, raises the heart rate, and improves running mechanics and leg turnover speed.

How to Perform

  • Stand upright with feet hip-width apart and arms bent at 90 degrees
  • Begin jogging in place at a comfortable pace
  • With each step, drive your heel up toward your glutes by bending the knee as far as possible
  • Alternate legs quickly in a rhythmic pattern, staying on the balls of your feet
  • Keep your knees pointing downward and your thighs roughly vertical
  • Swing your arms in opposition to your legs to maintain balance and rhythm
  • Continue for the target duration, gradually increasing speed as you warm up
