About this exercise

The burpee box jump combines the full-body conditioning of a burpee with the explosive lower-body power of a box jump. Dropping to the floor and pressing up before exploding onto an elevated platform maximizes cardiovascular demand and develops reactive strength in the legs and hips.

How to Perform

  • Stand facing a sturdy box or step
  • Drop into a squat, place your hands on the floor, and jump your feet back to a push-up position
  • Perform a push-up, then jump your feet back toward your hands
  • Explode upward with both arms driving overhead and land softly on top of the box with both feet
  • Stand fully upright on the box, then step or jump back down to the floor
  • Land with bent knees to absorb impact, then immediately begin the next rep
