About this exercise

A squat variation performed standing on the dome side of a BOSU ball, significantly increasing the balance and proprioception demand compared to a standard bodyweight squat. This exercise develops lower-body strength alongside ankle stability and core control.

How to Perform

  • Place the BOSU ball on the floor dome-side up
  • Step onto the dome with both feet hip-width apart and find your balance before moving
  • Stand tall with your arms extended forward or held at your sides for counterbalance
  • Engage your core and slowly lower into a squat by pushing your hips back and bending your knees
  • Lower until your thighs are approximately parallel to the floor, keeping your chest up
  • Push evenly through both feet to return to the standing position, maintaining balance throughout
  • Keep your gaze forward and your torso upright for the entire movement
