About this exercise

A seated battling ropes exercise that builds upper-body endurance and cardiovascular conditioning. Performing the waves from a seated position eliminates leg drive, placing greater demand on the shoulders, arms, and core to sustain the movement.

How to Perform

  • Anchor a set of battling ropes at ground level and sit on the floor or a low bench facing the anchor
  • Sit upright with a slight posterior lean and grab one end of the rope in each hand
  • Brace your core and keep your back straight throughout the set
  • Drive both arms in simultaneous or alternating up-and-down waves at a steady pace
  • Keep your shoulders away from your ears and maintain consistent wave amplitude
  • Continue for the target duration
