About this exercise

The Baseball Hit is a rotational plyometric drill that mimics the mechanics of a baseball swing. It develops explosive rotational power through the core and hips while improving coordination and athletic movement patterns transferable to many sports.

How to Perform

  • Stand in an athletic stance with feet slightly wider than shoulder-width, knees slightly bent
  • Rotate your hips and upper body to the back side as if loading a swing, shifting weight to the rear foot
  • Explosively rotate your hips and drive your torso through to the front side
  • Allow your arms to follow naturally through the swing arc, reaching full extension
  • Follow through completely, rotating to face forward with weight transferred to the front foot
  • Decelerate under control and reset to the starting position
  • Complete all reps on one side before switching to the other
