EasyGlutesHamstrings

About this exercise

A hip-hinge movement performed with a resistance band looped across the upper back and shoulders. The band provides accommodating resistance throughout the hinge, effectively loading the hamstrings and glutes while teaching proper hip-hinge mechanics with less spinal compression than a barbell version.

How to Perform

  • Stand on the middle of the resistance band with feet hip-width apart
  • Loop both ends of the band over your upper back and shoulders, holding the band securely
  • Stand tall with a slight bend in the knees and a neutral spine
  • Push your hips back and hinge forward until your torso is roughly parallel to the floor
  • Keep your back flat and chest up throughout the movement
  • Drive your hips forward to return to the standing position
  • Squeeze your glutes at the top of each rep
