About this exercise

The Assisted Sit-Up is a beginner-friendly abdominal exercise where the feet are anchored or a partner holds them, reducing hip-flexor dominance and allowing the abs to perform the movement more effectively.

How to Perform

  • Lie on your back with knees bent and feet flat on the floor, either anchored under a fixed object or held by a partner
  • Cross your arms over your chest or place your fingertips lightly at your temples
  • Engage your core and curl your upper body off the floor, leading with the chest
  • Continue rising until your torso is upright or nearly so
  • Slowly lower yourself back down under control, vertebra by vertebra
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
