About this exercise

The assault bike is a total-body cardio exercise performed on an air-resistance fan bike, where both the pedals and moving handlebars engage the legs and arms simultaneously. The air resistance increases with effort, making it as hard as you push.

How to Perform

  • Adjust the seat so your legs are nearly fully extended at the bottom of the pedal stroke
  • Grip the moving handlebars firmly with both hands
  • Begin pedaling and simultaneously push and pull the handlebars in a cycling motion
  • Drive hard through your legs while pushing the handles forward with one arm and pulling back with the other
  • Maintain an upright torso and controlled breathing throughout
  • Sustain your target pace or effort level for the prescribed time or distance
  • Gradually reduce effort at the end to cool down before stopping

About the Air Bike

The Air Bike is a foundational movement that builds strength and muscle through controlled, progressive overload. Train it 1 to 2 times per week with 3 to 5 working sets per session, gradually adding weight or reps as form holds up.
