About this exercise

The air bike is a floor ab exercise that combines a crunch with a cycling leg motion, alternately bringing each elbow toward the opposite knee to target the abs and obliques simultaneously. The continuous pedaling pattern keeps the core under constant tension throughout the set.

How to Perform

  • Lie flat on your back with your hands laced behind your head and knees bent at 90 degrees
  • Lift your shoulders slightly off the floor to engage the abs — keep your lower back pressed into the ground
  • Extend your right leg straight while rotating your right shoulder toward your left knee
  • Switch sides smoothly, extending your left leg while rotating your left shoulder toward your right knee
  • Continue alternating in a controlled, cycling motion without pulling on your neck
  • Breathe steadily, exhaling as you rotate to each side

About the Bicycle Crunch

The Bicycle Crunch is a foundational movement that builds strength and muscle through controlled, progressive overload. Train it 1 to 2 times per week with 3 to 5 working sets per session, gradually adding weight or reps as form holds up.
